At 5 weeks we are all still very mellow. Not only do we look like dad, we all act like him. Harley has passed his calm demeanor to this litter. Good job Harley!! Black and Cream Male: Wow. Bright Cream points and looking cuter by the day. I told you I wasn't as serious as I looked. Surprise pick by Elizabeth Gabel. This little boy is her final pick. He is NOT available. Black and Cream Female: Steve and Rebecca decided I just may be what they are looking for. Steve THOGHT he wanted a smooth puppy but he loves Star Baby so much he is considering ME, a long hair. Of course I am a black beauty and very very well behaved, not like that rascally little smooth girl of Chipper's. Black and Tan Male: Wanda and Paul's likely pick Black and Tan Male: Chris and Kris' likely pick. |
At 4 weeks we are all still very mellow. Not only do we look like dad, we all act like him. Harley has passed his calm demeanor to this litter. Good job Harley!! Black and Cream Male: Wow. Bright Cream points and looking cuter by the day. I told you I wasn't as serious as I looked. This is why we breed Dachshunds! This little guy is incredible. I AM AVAILABLE!! Black and Cream Female: Wait until I lose this black puppy hair and I will show you some cream points. Last month they were fighting over my 1/2 sister and now here I am AVAILABLE and I look just like her. Black and Tan Male: Wanda and Paul's likely pick Black and Tan Male: Chris and Kris' likely pick. |
At 3 weeks we are all very mellow. Don't get me wrong, we can play and play rough but we also will hold still. Not only do we look like dad, we all act like him. Harley is much more mellow then Ebony but they all seem to take after dad and that is a good thing. All puppies run and play and so forth but not all will hold still and let you pet them or take their picture. Black and Cream Male: Wow. Look at my points!! (I am not as serious as I look) :-) It is funny how serious he looks. It is his coloring. This will go away as he gets older and his nose gets longer. Black and Cream Female: My points are starting to show more but it will be a few weeks before my black hair comes out and the points show brightly. Black and Tan Male: Wanda and Paul's likely pick . Black and Tan Male: Chris and Kris' likely pick. |
Actually a little over 2 weeks. We all have our eyes and ears open and are beginning to explore. Black and Cream Male: Wow. What can I say. Look at my bright points, just like dad. I hope I look just like him because he is really cool. Black and Cream Female: My points are not as developed as my brother but they will come out over time. I am going to look like mom and have dad's coloring. I am colored a lot like my aunt Gala, my points are covered with a lot of black puppy hair. That hair will come out and the cream will come out as I grow. The undercoat hair I have is all cream. Black and Tan Male: I am slightly larger than my brother. Tougher, smarter and better looking too, that is if you ask me! Black and Tan Male: That's right MALE, las week Skip had me listed as a girl. How insulting!! I am slightly smaller than my brother but I am definitely all boy. As for tougher, smarter and better looking who asked YOU? Everyone can see I am the best!!! There is a chance I am black and cream, only time will tell. |
At 1 week we are going to try to identify who is who. Black and Cream Male: I am almost certainly black and cream. My points are very light. Don't let the litte red around my nose fool you. This is more the skin color. I am cream. I am going to look just like dad and it doesn't get any better than that!!! Black and Cream Female: I am almost certainly black and cream. My points are very light but not as defined as my brother. If my points appear dark it is just the amount of black hair and the flash. I am cream. Notice the difference in the background pictures above. The one on the right is the most accurate. The left and the two below have a lot of camera red added. The pictures below help you to see the difference in those above. These two are clearly black and tan. They "carry for cream" meaning they have one Chinchilla gene for cream. Black and Tan boy: Now I AM tan and proud of it. I will look like my mom Ebony, except ruggedly handsome like my dad. Black and Tan Male: Whoo hoo I am going to look like my mommie, Ebony too. I am not quite as big as my brother but I will be just as fierce in puppy battle. |
Whelped April 16th, 2009. Wow what a nice litter. Beautiful little black and tans and black and creams. Perfectly balanced at two boys and two girls. Roberta says she knows which two are black and tan and which two are black and cream already. We will see. Remember, a dog can not be 75% something or 92% something. It is 0%, 50% or 100%. They get a full gene for each characteristic from each parent. There are no partial gene inheritance characteristics. Process 2: Then the tan points may or may not be diluted to cream by a gene called the Chinchilla gene. It is the Chinchilla gene = CH which colors the tan points cream. The ch = no dilution. Harley is CHCH for Chinchilla dilution, 100% Cream Dilution. Harley gives each puppy a CH gene (that is the only type he has) but Ebony is CHch 50% Cream Dilution and has one of each and alternates (like a coin flip). Randomly 2 puppies out of 4 are likely to be CHCH and two CHch, depending entirely on which of her genes Ebony passes. CHch = black and tan carrying for Cream 50% cream. CHCH = black and cream 100% cream. |
Ebony, ready to pop. Ebony is huge. She is much bigger than BooBoo. She is a week futher along and due any minute but she is very big. This picture doesn't show how wide she is but it gives you the idea. |
Ebony and Harley Litter Future litter. Watch for this litter in mid 2009. Ebony has 17 Champions in her 5 generation pedigree and Harley boasts International Champion Brandach's Mr. Goodbar, Canadian Champion Billie of Brandach along with several other Rose Farms and Stoneleigh Champions for a total of 17 champions in his 5 generation pedigree. Harley will be a champion in his own time. In all the litter boasts a 34 Champion 6 generation Litter PEDIGREE Note the slight difference in color of the points (light colored areas) of the two dogs. Ebony is Black and Tan carrying for cream, Harley is Black and Cream. Harley can only produce English Creams and Black and Creams. Ebony can produce English Creams and Black and Creams but she can also produce Black and Tans. When bred to Harley, her black and tans will carry for English Cream because of the gene they get from dad. DASHaHOUND'S EBONY ECLIPSE MLBT HOME PAGE "Ebony" at 11 weeks "HARLEY" at 12 weeks DASHaHOUNDS WHIMSICAL CHAMPAGNE DASH OF HARLEQUIN MOON AT FULL CIRCLE Shown here as 11 and 12 week puppies to give you an idea what your puppy might look like about the age you bring it home. You can learn more about either parent on their own page and also see them in action in the slide flash show. Ebony has grown into a real beauty. She is black and tan carrying for English Cream. Harely is an incredible Black and Cream. For those of you who do not know, a black and cram is 100% English Cream. The English Cream gene is the Chinchilla gene. To be English Cream, a dog must have two Chinchilla genes. A dog who would otherwise have been red (BooBoo) comes out cream, a dog who would otherwise have been black and tan (Harley) comes out black and cream. The Chinchilla gene has no effect on black. So Harley is 100% English Cream and Ebony is 50%. The puppies they produce either get 2 Chinchilla genes (one from each parent) or one from Ruffy and a "no chinchilla" gene from Ebony. Half of the puppies will be 100% English Black and Cream (like dad) and half will be Black and Tan carrying for English cream (50% like mom) there is no such thing as a dog which is 75% anything. These puppies will be EXTRAORDINARY. We expect some show quality English Black and Creams. This will be a "pricey" litter but worth it if you are looking for a high quality English Black and Cream puppy. The black and tan puppies will sell for less but will have the same pedigree and will also be show quality. You hear a lot about temperament but until you EXPERIENCE the differences you can not appreciate them. Harleyis the original "mellow fellow". He is sweet and never fights with others. Even as a little tyke, NOTHING fazed him. If the other puppies growled at him he simply ignored them. He was not intimidated; it was as though it was beneath him to bother to reply. You could hold him in your lap and pet him or watch TV and he would stay still. Yet he can play fetch with the best of them. Ebony is moderate temperament, not as wild as her mother nor calm as her father. She is a beautiful blend of both. She is a wonderful dog and her litter will be loving, active, independent and yet controllable. She is loving and she shows it. There are no guarantees and individual puppies can vary greatly but we expect their puppies to be a mix of ACTIVE and MATURE. By MATURE I mean they will hold still to let children pet them and behave well very early. Many puppies are so active and silly they can not be much company for a year or longer. Active puppies are good for young children because they wear each other out but are harder to deal with for the first year. Even mature puppies have abundant energy and can play and fetch, etc. it is just that they will calm down and hold still. Active puppies are almost always in motion. With BooBoo being active and Harley being mellow we expect to get some of each. These two dogs also compliment each other physically. We try very hard to give each owner a realistic expectation of the puppy they adopt. We do not have any mean or ill tempered dogs. We will not tolerate a trouble maker and certainly will not include it in our breeding program, no matter what the pedigree. Some bad or aggressive behavior is learned and some inherited, we try to start you with the best temperament possible to give you that head start.
