Pepper and Whiskers Litter

Pepper and Whiskers Certification

This Litter is Certified NCL and PRA CLEAR.  For details on what this means see DASHaHOUND GUARANTEE

Both parents are Champion Sired. Whiskers is Roberta's pride and joy.  He has 38 champions in his 5 generation pedigree with only one repeat.  That is 37 individual dogs who were all champions!!!  Some on each side of his pedigree.  In his first 6 shows Whiskers won 7 points and a 4 point major.  He is half way to his championship.

This litter boasts 54 champions in their 6 generation pedigree!!    More pictures of Chipper will be added as her coat develops to show the progression of the wire coat.

Chipper at 15 weeks.  What a difference 3 weeks makes.  If you don't think she looks like dad, take a look at the picture on the bottom right.  This is not Chipper it is Whiskers, her dad at about her age.

Chipper on the left.                                                                                                                 Whiskers on the right.  Like father like daughter.

12 Week Chipper

These pictures were taken to show the wire coat development of Whiskers' pups.

These are Chipper's 12 week pictures.  She is getting her furnishings and her wire overcoat.  She always had a thick undercoat.  Whiskers developed much the same way, undercoat then top coat.

Chewy was the opposite, wire top coat then undercoat.      It is so hard to see the detail in these small low resolution pictures.    I had to leave these pictures a little larger or the coat detail gets totally lost.

Note her paws are heavily wired at this point.    Overall conformation is good and she is beautiful.

Here she is starting to look just like dad (see his puppy pics).                    This picture shows the new wire coat the best.

7 Week Pictures.  The puppies are still too young to be stacked but we thought we would give it a try.

"Husky" becomes "Oscar"  as he begins his new life with Karin H. and family.  Oscar will be a show dog and we will post his results in future postings.

"Reggae"    "Reserved"

"Chipper" "Reserved"                                                    Chipper stepping off the block in the back.

5 Week Pictures.  At this point all three still appear to be wire and we are 90% certain.  The puppies are way too young to be stacked but we thought we would give it a try.

All puppies bow their back at this age (see Whiskers on the slide show flash).  The main thing you can see here is the legs and feet.  They are symetrical and properly sectioned.

"Husky"   not too sure about these blocks                                                            "Reggae"    on the alert                  "Chipper" closest thing to a stack we could get from a 5 week old

Bonus picture of Reggae, too cute not to post.  Notice her tail wagging in both pictures, it is always in motion.

4 Week Pictures.  At this point all three still appear to be wire but it is too early to be certain.

"Husky"   is almost certainly a wire                              "Reggae"   could be smooth or wire yet      "Chipper" is quite likely a wire

Now they are really starting to explore.  They will be weaned from mom this week.  They eat from a bowl and have started drinking water but still get some liquid from mom.

All three of these puppies are looking VERY nice.  Chipper is the lightest color and a half ounce smaller than Husky and Reggae.

3 Week Pictures.  At this point all three appear to be wire but it is still early to be certain.  We are old enough for temporary names now.  Not puppy A, B, etc.

As the only boy I am "Husky"                                                Like Cajun spice I am "Reggae"                                     With a black chip spot on my rump I am "Chipper"

The puppies are starting to be aware of their surroundings.  Eyes and ears open they begin to explore.  They each weigh around two pounds, Chipper being slighty smaller then the other two.

I think they are all going to favor dad and it doesn't get better than that!

Pepper and Whisker's 1 week litter picture.  The puppy on the left is the boy the two on the right are girls.

The boy was born with 3 distinct black stripes down his back, almost brindle.  They are now merging.

Right on time.  Pepper whelped her puppies all night.  The first before midnight on the 29th and the rest early this morning the 30th. (OK, 1 day off, still very accurate.)

"Future Pepper and Whiskers Litter.  Pepper was bred 2/25/2008.  This would make for a late April landing, about the 28th. "

2 boys and 2 girls all about 7 ounces each.  Big job for an 8 pound female.  Sadly the first born little boy never took a breath.  Roberta worked on him for 45 minutes but not even CPR could get him going.  Mother and the remaining 3 are doing fine.  Pepper is being a very good mommy.

12 hour old pictures:  Mom and babies resting fine.

Pepper, not too sure about all this but getting ready:

This litter should be half smooth coats and half wire coats, black and tans and reds.  Whiskers Pepper Litter 6 generation pedigree.  Wow a whopping 54 champions (if I counted right).  PEDIGREE

Shown here as 8 week puppies to give you an idea what your puppy might look like about the age you bring it home.      You can learn more about either parent on their own page and also see them in action in the slide flash show.

Please view each parent's home page to understand what your puppy may be like.  We try very hard to give each owner a realistic expectation of the puppy they adopt.  We do not have any mean or ill tempered dogs.  We will not tolerate a trouble maker and certainly will not include it in our breeding program, no matter what the pedigree.  Some bad or aggressive behavior is learned and some inherited, we try to start you with the best temperament possible to give you that head start.
