This Litter is Certified NCL CLEAR. And it is a mix of CLEAR and CARRIER for PRA. Ruby is Certified NCL CLEAR and is a CARRIER for PRA and Preston is Certified CLEAR for both. For details on what this means see DASHaHOUND GUARANTEE.
This litter is a Ralines sired line. They either are English Cream or they carry for it (depending on which puppy). They all have 39 champions in their 6 generation pedigree.
This is a repeat breeding for this pair. you have only to look at what they produced last time to know why we are repeating it Ruby and Preston Litter . To learn more about which puppies are full English Cream and which are half read the information on that litter and follow their progression. Pet/Companion prices for this litter will begin at $1,200 for reds and black and tans and $1600 for English Creams and Black and Creams.
To get an idea of what each of these puppies will look like, track them against the previous Ruby Preston Litter . This link is to a full 8 week pictorial of a previous litter by the same parents which parrelles this one.
All of the puppies from this litter were sold on prior reservation. Watch for upcoming litters of Chipper and Ebony!!

All of the puppies are reserved and will be going to their new homes soon. We will miss thier cute little mugs and playful antics. We know they will bring light and joy into the homes of our new friends who made the decision to adopt them.
The big problem here is getting them to hold still for pictures. I have a lot of pictures with only a part of their tail in them and some with no puppy at all!!! Forgive the blurry effect on a couple, I simply could not resist the cute action photos inspite of a little blurr.
Well, Dreamie is Creamie. She seems to get lighter, if anything. Dreamie is to become Gala and will live in Mazatlan Mexico with Guadalupe. This wonderful little girl is going to be the delight of Mazatlan.

Alex is going to live in Colorado. Bernie and his Donna who are friends of Elle and Jim who adopted Josephine (DeeDee) from the Preston Blondie Litter. This little guy is full of life. Fire bit him on the tail and he was after him tooth and nail. He lives up to his namesake, Alexander the Great. A block, oh boy, think I will pushi it with my nose, or maybe chew on it. Forgive the blur but if you want a photo of me in action you better get a faster camera!!

Fire (and Prince too) becomes Aiden and goes to live in Ney York with Deanna who is friends with Ray and Joanne who adopted Gidget and Ginger from the first Ruby Preston litter, hmmm, sound familiar. It is not an accident that the people who adopt puppies from us refer their friends, nor that their friends wait patiently for the puppies to be born and come of age. Our puppies have EXTRAORDINARY personality and behavior. They are also incredibly BEAUTIFUL. Even among woderful Dachshunds, our stand out. OK, maybe I am a LITTLE biased but so are their owners. Each person who adopts one of our puppies becomes an extended family through that adoption.
Want a closeup of my face, ok, you are going to have to hold my head still, cause I am not going to stop moving. I have places to go. Hmmm a block, I wonder if I can eat it.

Prince becomes Spencer and, with Fire who becomes Aiden, goes to live with Deanna in New York. Deanna had first pick and knew she wanted Fire who looked so much like Ginger (Ray and Joanne's puppy from first litter) but was pretty sure she did not want a cream. Then she saw Prince. She says his picture looked at her and said "I am Spencer, pick me" and she did. Wow, good choice Deanna and thank you for your patience, you were first in line and you waited the longest. These two little bundles of joy will provide many years of pleasure for you. To all of you, take a lesson from this and make your reservations broad. You don't always pick the puppy, sometimes the puppy picks you!!!
I am so beautiful it hurts. Look how long my ears are!! How about a profile??? Roberta's fingers tickled, I think I will shake!!!!

6 Week Pictures

At 6 weeks they are very playful. You can see action in some of the photos. It is getting hard to get them to stand still for pictures. I have to worry about them launching off of the table. What an incredible litter. Only the little Shaded English Cream boy is available. To know what he will look like as an adult, look at Ruffy's home page.
Dreamie is soooo pretty. Still black and cream without a single tan hair, if she is to turn black and tan she needs to do it soon, no tan or red hairs yet. We will make a final decision as to her points next week. There is some tan look to her nose and eyes but it is not due to tan hair, it is the amount of black hair mixed in. This black hair recedes and reveals the undercoat. Also her nose lenghtens and more point coloring appears. So far all that hair is cream but it is just not possible to say for a certainty yet. RESERVED
.JPG)
Alex is the playful little tiger. AVAILABLE . Just like his namsake, Alexander the Great, he is the explorer and conqueror. What a cute little guy, whoops, excuse me Alex, handsome!!
.JPG)
Fire is also aptly named for he both looks and acts full of fire. RESERVED I am just too pretty. See my wavy black ears?
.JPG)
Prince, and of course he is. The Prince of Light. RESERVED What a special little guy. He is a rare EE English cream. We don't use the term "rare" easily. To get a Prince it requires two different gene series. He must be CHCH for Chinchilla dilution, creating the English Cream and then EE for the E series which inhibits all black shading. Puppies who look like Prince but are created with the D dilute gene (such as the little Platinum pupy on our welcome page) look very light but redden over time. See Butter on our Dash of Fame page, he is that platinum puppy as an adult. Notice how tan he became. Prince will stay light all her life. He will develop a little golden glow but not a bit of red.

5 Week Pictures

5 Weeks and they are starting to develop personalities. They respond to thier environment, they can easily manage their head movements and can run and jump with much more accuracy.
Dreamie is "Waking up" to her world. She is exploring and like, all of the puppies is unafraid. At this point she still does not have a tan or brown hair we can identify. We are watching the nose and mouth areas closely. It is very hard to tell because there is so little light hair there and so much black. Look at the pictures of Alex, the next little EC boy. He is clearly an English Cream with NO red hair at all, yet in a photo his face looks much like Dreamies'. Then look at Fire's face and you can see the red. This last photo shows the lage areas of the points on Dreamie. They are very light blond. The camera still add a little red, notice Roberta's hands. Her hands are not that red in real life. Look at the difference in the top hand and the bottom. The camera and my lack of skill with it makes color match impossible. These were taken indoors with a flash. It was too cold to take them outside. I would say the odds are 60% that Dreamie is cream. We have to make a decision at 7 weeks so everyone can arrange to pick them up, etc. I will be 90% by then but it is still possible I can make a mistake. The Chinchilla gene fights hard to turn those points cream and sometimes one gene can hold off the red for quite a while. Ultimately there is no doubt and at 7 weeks I will be fairly certain. Reserved with two back up reservations.

Speaking of Alex, here he is. WOW, every one of these puppies is turning out great. Each has their own particular coloring and shading but they are all beautiful. Alex is living up to his name as a conqueror. Roberta says "I put him down and he growled at me". lol He was the first to learn to bark and will be the defender of the food bowl. Look how light he is already. Notice his face looks tan or brown but he is composed ENTIRELY of cream and black hair. His chest too, is the best measure and largest quantity of light hair. Look at that shading and that cute little mug. Notice how long their ears are already. Beautiful wavy hair on nice long ears. Their ears measure to the tip of the nose already and will continue to extend another inch or so. Available. Hey what's wrong with me? I am beautiful. It isn't my fault I am not a girl. Neuter my while I am young and I will be just as sweet ans any old girl would be.
.JPG)
You can see why we call him Fire. He and Prince are the smallest of the group but they make up for it in enthusiasm. What a lady killer this little boy is. Look at that face. He is simply gorgeous !!! He looks just like his older sister Ginger did at this age. We call him Fire because he looks like a smoldering ember. Note his red tint compared to either of the light areas on the two above. Reserved
.JPG)
We call him Prince and that is what he is. This little guy is extraordinary!! Most of you know the long hairs and in particular the light creams are my favorite. But even if cream is not your favorite color you have to admit this little boy is incredible. I know I said similar tings about each puppy but each is truly beautiful. It comes down to personal preference. Just like with people some like Blondes and some Brunettes, etc but all of these puppies are stand outs in their color. There is not an average looking puppy in the bunch. Look at the beautiful striped sahding above and the wavy long hair on the easrs of them all. This little guy is so brightly blonde it is striking. He would stand out in a room full of English Cream puppies. Prince is my grandson Ken's vaorite. No matter which one we pick up for him to play with he says "no" and points to Prince. He is very dicerning for a two year old. :-) Reserved with one back up reservation

4 Week Pictures

What a change a week makes. At 4 weeks they are very active. They will be weaned from mom and move into the house this week. They will get socialized and learn to use the doggie door from inside the house.
It is time for temporary names, of course you can keep them or change them to whatever you like. You can also keep the registered name and chane the call name.
DASHaHOUNDS MIDNIGHT DREAM MLBC "Dreamie" Our little black girl is getting prettier by the day. Not to raise or dash any hopes, only for future reference, her points can be seen to be cream at this point. The only color in them at all is camera supplied or the presence of some black hair mixed in with the cream. She will either continue to lighten or begin to darken as the Chinchilla gene shows its influence. One gene and she will darken, two and she will lighten. We will know for sure shortly.
.JPG)
DASHaHOUNDS ALEXANDER THE GREAT MLEC "Alex". Check out this little guy. Notice how light his chest is already. Move over Ruffy here comes Alex.
.JPG)
DASHaHOUNDS ROYAL FIRE MLR "Fire" Look at me, I am BEAUTIFUL!!! Whoops, I mean HANDSOME!!!
.JPG)
DASHaHOUNDS PRINCE OF LIGHT MLEC "Prince" It is rare that I get even two good pictures but Roberta refused to let me delete any one of these three. This little boy truly is the Prince of Light.

3 Week Pictures
| |
At 3 weeks they are beginning to explore. Next week they will get temporary names. We wait until they have enough personality that we can pick a fitting name.
Here is the little black female. Her points are very light but it is still too early to tell for sure. We could not tell with Ebony until about 7 weeks. Many breeders mistakenly register black puppies with a single allele for Chinchilla as black and cream or a double as black and tan. We want to be sure. The picture on the left is the most accurate for color. The closeup flash adds red. You can see the red in the backgraound and in the white as well.
.JPG)
The little English Cream boy has taken over as the tubby of the group. He has discovered he likes to eat. lol. Notice how the cream color is starting to come out. He will continue to lighten. Again the closeup adds a lot of red. He has no red at all. The right hand picture is truest for color. At early ages with the English Creams it is hard to tell what they will look like. He may look very similar to his brother below but won't in 4 more weeks. He will continue to show more of the cream undercoat and his brother will show the deep red undercoat. The black will receed on both and they will end up looking completely different. This one will look like Ruffy and the little red boy below will look like Ginger.
.JPG)
Our little red guy is the smallest of the litter but by no means a runt. He is the most active at this point and starting to investigate his world. He appears to be colored just like Ginger (named for her color) from the first Ruby Preston Litter. If so, he is a lucky boy. Look at the coloring on his cute little mug and ears. I will try to get a shot of him looking at the camera next week. He was "on the move" today.
.JPG)
This little guy is beautiful (handsome). He is going to look just like BooBoo from the first Ruby Preston Litter. He is so light it is hard to photo him. I will need to try it against a dark background.

Our little black girl is over 1 pound already. She is fat and sassy. Her eyes are just starting to open. Still can't be sure about the color or her points. She is going to look like Ebony or Harley when she grows up.
Our little shaded cream boy is growing fast. He is the picture of health and starting to open his eyes. Watch him lighten up as the weeks go by. He is going to look like Ruffy when he grows up.

Our litle red boy says "I can see you!" He is growing rapidly and his eyes are open wide. He is going to look like Ginger when he grows up.

Not to be out done our little EE cream boy is on the watch. His eyes are open wide and he too is growing fast. This isn't a great picture but he is not inclined to hold still. lol Notice the black nose yet light cream hair. This is the true English Cream when further influenced by the EE gene series. An American Cream might look similar at this age but would not have the nice black nose and nails. The D dilute gene which creates an American Cream also fades the black to a sort of blue color. This failure to have black pigment on the nose and nails is considered a fault in Creams. American creams also darken as they get older. Only the English Creams have the nice dark nose and nails and only the EEs are born light colored and then stay that way. He is going to look like BooBoo when he grows up.

NOTE: I HAVE TO TAKE PICTURES WITH THE FLASH AND IT ADDS RED TO ALL THE PICTURES. MOST OF THE RED YOU SEE IS NOT THERE IN NATURAL LIGHT. WHEN THEY ARE OLDER WE CAN TAKE THEM OUTSIDE FOR BETTER PICTURES.
This sweet little black and tan?cream? puppy is fat and sassy. They are all gaining weight and healthy. She looks very promising. It will be some time before I can tell about the points.

This little guy I believe to be shaded cream. It is possible he will turn out to be shaded red but I don't think so at this point.

This little guy is almost certainly a deep shaded red. Not how even the white towel he is on looks pink. The camera lies.

This little boy is an EE cream (no black hair at all). He is much lighter than this picture. Again the red is added by the camera.

Another Incredible Ruby Preston Litter!!! What color diversification. 1 female and 3 males.

Newborn Pictures of the individual puppies:
First born was the little girl. At 8 ounces she was not so little! She is black with points which will ultimately turn out to be either tan or cream. She has at least one Chinchilla gene from Preston and could have a Chinchilla gene from Ruby, who carries for cream, or she might have one "no Chinchilla" gene from Ruby (Ruby has one of each). If she got one Chinchilla she will have tan points and look like Ebony from litter # 1. She would then be a black and tan, carrying for cream. If she got two Chinchilla genes her points will be cream (like Harley's) and she will be a black and cream. Either way she will be a beauty.
.JPG)
Second born, at 6.5 ounces this little guy is the smallest but still larger than average and totally healthy. Our average birth weight is 5-6 ounces. What a great little guy. This fellow may seem very dark right now but he will end up a shaded cream and look much like Ruffy when he is grown. True English Creams are born dark, unless they also have the EE gene as puppy #4, which eliminates all black hair, in which case they are born light. EEs are more rare. This boy would likely make a good stud dog for a kennel, for the same reasons we kept Ruffy for our breeding program. We will know more about his conformation as he grows.

Third born at 7 ounces, this little boy promises to be another "WOW" puppy. Like Ginger in the first litter, he fooled us. We thought both might be creams but, especially with the help of the camera, it now appears he will be that deep shaded red as Ginger. To see what I mean about all these puppies go to the past litter of Ruby and Preston for a full 8 week pictorial of all that litter. Ginger turned out so spectacular we would have kept her but we had already promised her to Ray and Joanne Pzarras, so we had to let her go. She and sister Gidget are living happily in New York and we still get pictures from time to time. Gidget is light red. We did not have a Gidget look alike in this litter. We just needed one more puppy. lol.

Born last at 7.5 ounces this little guy is a rare EE cream. It takes two gene series to make such a color. The EE series gene is recessive, so it takes an EE gene from each parent, giving the puppy two EE genes for the puppy to be EE. That means the puppy will have absolutely NO black shading. This puppy would then have been a clear red puppy, BUT both parents also gave him a Chinchilla gene for Chinchilla dilution of all red haid to cream. So he is EE chch and is light cream with no shading. BooBoo from the first litter is an EE cream as well. If you like the light cream color (my favorite) this little guy is for you. He also would make a great kennel stud dog, assuming his conformation is what we expect with his pedigree.

Ruby looking very Pregnant. She was due mid January and delivered January 15th. Good job Ruby Doobie

Ruby and Preston Litter (2) Projected to arrive February 2009.

"RUBY" at 8 weeks "PRESTON" at 8 weeks
Dash of Ruby Doxhunds Dash of Cream Eclair
Shown here as 8 week puppies to give you an idea what your puppy might look like about the age you bring it home. You can learn more about either parent on their own page and also see them in action in the slide flash show.
Ruby has grown into a real beauty. Her coat is a lush red with a black overlay which looks almost Sable. It is hard to capture the color variations and highlights of her coat at the low resolution we need for the website. Preston is from the prestigious "Ralines" line which began the whole English Cream line of Champions. These puppies will be EXTRAORDINARY. We expect some show quality English Creams and some exceptional red/creams. This will be a "pricey" litter but worth it if you are looking for a high quality English Cream line puppy.
You hear a lot about temperament but until you EXPERIENCE the differences you can not appreciate them. Preston is the original "mellow fellow". He is sweet and never fights with others. Even as a little tyke, NOTHING fazed him. If the other puppies growled at him he simply ignored them. He was not intimidated; it was as though it was beneath him to bother to reply. You could hold him in your lap and pet him or watch TV and he would stay still. Yet he can play fetch with the best of them.
Just as Dapple and Pepper are mild, Ruby is ACTIVE. She is by far the most agile of all of our dogs. She can out run and out maneuver them all. She is so fast they have to climb up on the couch and jump down to ambush her. She is totally non violent and is dominated by all of the other dogs in the pack. She doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She is wonderful but does not like to hold still. Although she was my favorite from the beginning she does not sleep on the bed with us yet. She does not like to sit still and be petted, she likes to play. She mothers all the other dogs and sees to it they have the cleanest ears in the county. She is a wonderful dog and, now at one year, is calm enough to take naps with Roberta after an exhausting race with Preston around the back yard. Her sons will be a small boy's best friend. She is loving and she shows it.
There are no guarantees and individual puppies can vary greatly but we expect their puppies to be a mix of ACTIVE and MATURE. By MATURE I mean they will hold still to let children pet them and behave well very early. Many puppies are so active and silly they can not be much company for a year or longer. Active puppies are good for young children because they wear each other out but are harder to deal with for the first year. Even mature puppies have abundant energy and can play and fetch, etc. it is just that they will calm down and hold still. Active puppies are almost always in motion. With Ruby being active and Preston being mellow we expect to get some of each. These two dogs also compliment each other physically. Ruby is light and petite. Preston is typical of the English Cream, large boned, gangly as a puppy and didn't learn how to steer his caboose for a couple of months.
We try very hard to give each owner a realistic expectation of the puppy they adopt. We do not have any mean or ill tempered dogs. We will not tolerate a trouble maker and certainly will not include it in our breeding program, no matter what the pedigree. Some bad or aggressive behavior is learned and some inherited, we try to start you with the best temperament possible to give you that head start.
