Hi Skip! I want you to know that Riley (I think you called him Rascal),
the long haired brindle that we adopted from you last March, has turned
out to be the best dog I have ever had... and he is my 5th dachshund.
He is sweet, cuddly, not the slightest bit shy and has never, even once,
offered so much as a growl to anyone, human or dog (except when playing
tug-a-war). And to top it off, he has matured into a BEAUTY! Thanks
again for breeding such a great dog!

Dear Roberta and Skip,
So glad Bill sent photos of Simon to you. I have been planning to do it for ages but wanted to get a full shot with raised tail before doing it. I will when that is accomplished. He is absolutely, outstandingly handsome. People stop me and Mark, too, when he is walking him, and ask all kinds of questions.
The dapple really came out in his face and legs (and other cream areas) which are extremely light, and the look in his eyes is so sweet and adoring. He keeps me hopping because he is so smart. I have to spend such little time in order to teach him anything except using the great outdoors ALL of the time.
He faithfully uses his pee pee pads and that helps a lot! He can even unzip my purses - which I didn't teach him. I am assuming he is like Harley since Cassie, who looks like Candy, is just the opposite of him in every way, but just as cute as she can be, as is Gracie.
Simon has been a godsend to me and I feel blessed and eternally grateful to you for giving him to me. I thank you with all my heart.
I'm happy that you send photos each week of the all the puppies. I never miss looking at them.
Fran

Speaking of Kerby, he is doing just great. We couldn't have asked for a better addition to the family. How often I think of your advice to "just let the puppy pick you." I tell Kerby each day that we were very lucky that he picked us. His latest "trick" is that he stands at Carl's feet as we are getting them ready for bed and gives his little "notice me" bark until Carl picks him up and kisses him good-night. Turns old Carl into a big blob of mush!
I hope all is well with you and Roberta. We so appreciate all the joy you have added to our lives.
Thank you once again.

From Debi Curry:
We are SO happy with Roxi - she is the perfect little girl...sweet as can be, with just a hint of devil! She is extremely smart too...learns whatever we teach her with very little effort.
She does bark if she gets startled or thinks we need to know "there's a booger out there", but never growls, is not food aggressive, loves to be held, and is just overall the sweetest little baby. Thank you again for
being so conscientious about the qualities you put into your breeding - it's such a joy to be the benefactor!!!

Hunter (originally Baron, a Blondie/Harley puppy and a Harley look-a-like) was attacked while on a leash by a free running Pit Bull. He received life threatening damage and required hospitalization and surgery. Here are some comments from the owners and hospital staff we are quite proud of:
Email #1: Here are a few pictures. As you can see Henry and Hunter are quite fond of each other. We have all fallen madly in love with Hunter. He is the sweetest most cuddly dog I've ever owned (nearly annoying!). If he could go everywhere with me in my purse he happily would! ...
Hunter was viciously attacked by the pit bull. He is still in the ER hospital and will be for a few days.
Email #2: I knew you would like to know that everyone at the hospital loved Hunter! They were so impressed by how loving he is and how willing he was to let everyone work on him. They told me that they refer to dachshunds as "land sharks" as they are always ready to snarl or snap! Not Hunter! Here is a quote from his discharge papers that I loved..."Hunter has been a model patient during his stay with us...He is clearly tough as nails, a testament to his 'fine German engineering'". (!!)

Hi Skip & Roberta!
We are so blessed to have found you guys - thank you for your commitment to raising quality,
well adjusted dogs, with perfect temperament. You should be proud of the dedication and love
you put into all of the babies and the adults too. We so appreciate how you listened to us,
and accommodated our needs (visits every 3 weeks!) Roxi was meant to be ours, and you
gave us the perfect little girl.
THANK YOU!!!

August 15, 2009.
Dear Skip and Roberta:
Today my Beautiful Galatea is turning 8 months old, and we’ve been together for 6 of them. She’s all grown up and a delight.
I’d like to take a moment to comment on the whole experience of getting a puppy from you, and how it’s all turned out.
First of all, it caught my attention that you were willing to answer every question I asked, regardless of it being silly. You took the time to even explain a bit of genetics to me and your breeding methods. You asked about me, my family and my experience with the breed, before considering allowing me to have one of your pups. Those were all good signs to me.
When the time came to choose a pup, you were always willing to find ways to get the perfect pup for ME. One that would fit into my life perfectly. You knew I had just lost my beloved Merlina (red smooth tweenie) and knew I wanted a dog that would not remind me of her: that I wanted a healthy, loving, playful girl. And that is exactly what I got.
I’ve gotten many times the same comment: Gala was meant to be with me. She is perfect for me. She is the right dog for the right person.
Her personality couldn’t be any better. She’s stubborn, like all dachshunds should be (and I wouldn’t want a dachshund any other way!). Yet she’s so loving, playful and gentle. She’s amazing with children, which is rare in the breed. She rolls belly up as soon as she meets anyone, and hops all over you to get you to pet her. Once she’s warmed up, she immediately becomes demanding or… steals something from you if you don’t pay attention to her, which always makes us all laugh until our bellies hurt!
She earned the hearts of everyone in the family as soon as they met her. What a doll! But she’s momma’s girl, and she’s quite glued to me.
I could go on and on regarding her qualities, which I’m sure you know well, as you bred her and know exactly what kind of pups you were looking for.
Regarding the experience of having you guys as her breeder: it’s been great! I love that you keep in touch and I feel I can talk to you about any little problem and you can help me or guide me. You didn’t just deliver her and forget about us, but keep in touch constantly and don’t mind answering the occasional question or comment. I’ve learned so much from this experience. Before I used to get my dogs from either the shelter or “hobby breeders” (as here in Mexico most dogs are backyard bred) and I would most certainly not do that again. I can assure you that if I were to get another dachshund I would repeat this experience in a heartbeat!
So I want to thank both of you for getting Gala and I together, as it was indeed a perfect match; for all your efforts in breeding my perfect dog; and for the attention received all this time. It’s been awesome!
Hugs to both of you,
Guadalupe Rivera and Galatea.

Hi Skip & Roberta,
Wish you could see me sitting on sofa, with 5 dogs RELAXED and sleeping, first time today!! I teach yoga and so missed them when I taught my 330pm class today!
Things are VERY SMOOTH, and all seems to be fitting nicely into place.......!! Your puppies are well mannered & their nature in itself is priceless, huge compliment and I so mean that! Their training at your place, already, has left me with ONLY 1 ACCIDENT IN OUR HOUSE TODAY!! Does that not scream huge relief????
I feel we will strongly keep both. Very much I appreciate you giving us option OUT, should we need it.... but it is all very much, JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD BE!!!
Talk with you soon, and regards, Terri
Note: Terri took two puppies home because she could not decide. We gave her the choice to return either for a full refund. It turns out TWO was the right decision. :-)

Oh Skip and Roberta,
THey ARE gorgeous!! Josie continues to amaze and entertain us. We think she is the most wonderful and beautiful doggie on the planet. this evening, we had dinner guests. Joyce, my friend, who doesn't particularly like dogs, held her all evening. Joyce just LOVES her. Josie is such a special baby.
Little Nocchi, Donna and BErnie's son, hiked with us today. He is such a hunk of a doggie. He is now very hairy and beautiful. Donna and Bernie just stare at him with glazed looks. They are in love.
thanks for making our lives even better.
Love, Elle
Note: Elle got Josephine from us and referred us to her friends Bernie and Donna, who got Nocchi (adopted puppy, not a literal son).

Did you know Deanna made her picks??????
She got a beautiful little red boy who reminds me of Ginger and and EXCEPTIONAL little EE light cream boy who reminds me of BooBoo.
Playmates for the girls!!!
>Are you sure these girls aren't Huskies??? We had 14plus inches of snow on
> Monday and we have to drag them in the house..Covered in snow ..
>
>They have built a race track in the snow and run run run...Thank you again..
>
>Joanne and ray
Note: Ray and Joanne referred us to Deanna below. Deanna saw them walking "the girls" and wanted two just like them. She ended up picking two beautiful litte boys.

Aiden is leaner in body mass and can be more energetic (he runs so much faster than Spence) but his bullying is a lot of bravado. He's really a cream puff... quick to be scared at new things and then he runs to me. Plus Aiden still hates riding in the Jeep... gets car sick.
Spencer is more even-keeled... mellower... slightly more sensitive too. They both show off with their aggressive playing and Spencer can certainly dominate when he's in a tough mood. He throws his weight around... with his thicker and stronger body. He has learned to be just as aggressive when playing. He's no slouch.
They are the sweetest when they're tired (quiet) and cuddly. Both love to be rubbed on their bellies and rollover at every opportunity.
Overall they are great pups... good natured and truly lovable. A friend who is a vet came for dinner Saturday night and she was very impressed with their mild-mannered temperaments. Compliments to the
breeder!
I'll have to take more pictures to get a good one of Spencer.
Take care. -DF

Dear Skip,
I really appreciate your reference for Trobridge's and the time you took to write back to us.
It is really too bad that other breeders do not test. It would be great if the breed can be eventually bred free of affected dogs. There are too many breeders out there that are not being as concientious as you and Adrian are being. Thanks for all the information posted about different approaches in breeding on your website. I found it all fascinating.
I did look at your website and saw that Trobridge's was the only reference. I've been all over the internet for the last two months checking the AKC and National Club breeder lists, to see who gets dogs from whom by Kennel names in the registered name, Pedigrees where possible (although Adrian indicated some people who post their own lineage charts aren't being truthful) and checking parent pictures, who is showing and breeding (conformation). But unless the dog is stacked in the picture it's difficult to tell proportion, topline and the other aspects of conformation. Because of transportation concerns on my part, I was trying to stay in the midwest.
I love and care about the breed and have lived with dachshunds for 30 years of my life. Thank you for being one of the responsible breeders out there and for all you do to encourage more like you.
Sincerely,
Dawn
